Jane says: "My work has been inspired by an enduring love for Sydney Harbour. I am just one of a long line of Australian artists to have an interest in the Harbour’s maritime history, but the strange niche that I have carved for myself as the chronicler of the last days of Sydney’s decline from a gritty, vibrant working harbour into a sanitised leisure and residential centre is one that I could never have imagined from the outset...Most recently I have been painting on the wharves at Miller’s Point, as Port Jackson’s traditional role as a working harbour is ending. I have grabbed every opportunity to record significant events in the maritime & industrial history of Sydney and many of the subjects that I have painted have not been accessible to the general public for reasons of security or danger. As well as ground level views of stevedoring activity, I have also been permitted to paint from the bridge of the enormous cargo ships, and even to use the Harbour Control Tower as a studio giving me unprecedented access to the most spectacular views of Sydney Harbour throughout a time of historic change. The last cargo ship departed Darling Harbour in October 2007, the wharves at Miller’s Point are already being demolished and the last of the wharf buildings will be flattened by the end of April 2008."

Camden Hospital

Camden Hospital

This is the present hospital building in Menangle Road. The section behind the palm trees was opened in May 1902. It was enlarged in 1939, 1971 and 2001. Very much a community hospital, it has been supported by local organisations and individuals.

St John's Anglichan Church Camden

Work on Camden’s best known landmark began in 1840. Shortage of funds with the 1840s depression delayed its completion and it was consecrated on 7th June 1849. Several architects are mentioned in relation to its design, including Mortimer Lewis and Edmund Blacket, but the design is said to have been an English one favoured by the Macarthur family.
