Heather Calnan has been enamelling for forty years and has attended many workshops in USA, Germany and the UK. The fascination of working with enamels is in experimenting with the changing combinations of heat, metal and glass. She is currently a member of the Society of Arts and Crafts of NSW, exhibiting at Craft NSW and the North Shore Art Group.
Enamel is special glass fired many times on copper. When Egyptians were trying to emulate gems they discovered that glass would fuse to metal. These precious artifacts have lasted many centuries. Enamels make desirable collectable pieces.
