The gallery was established in 1994 to represent some of Australia's emerging and leading artists. Contemporary, traditional and representational works in many forms of media are exhibited. Many gallery artists have won major and regional art awards and are represented in private and institutional collections throughout Australia and the world.

The gallery owner, Nan Howard, has been collecting art works since she was 18 years old. She started buying and selling paintings in 1987 and established Still Water Fine Arts in 1988. In 1994, she opened Camden Fine Art Gallery at its present location.
The gallery has at least four major exhibitions a year and changing exhibitons of new works by gallery artists. The gallery also represents potters, glass artists, sculptors and woodturners.
Books published by the National Library of Australia and literature of Australian art and history are available.
