Victoria Dore is an emerging artist based in Sydney. She studied art at HSC level and studied Fine Arts at Sydney University for one year. She is mostly self taught but has been strongly influenced by the work of Margaret Preston.
Victoria’s subject matter is varied from depicting people in quiet settings to portraits and bird life, as well as painting still life. She uses effects of light, shadow and colour to create a soft and gentle mood or something bright and glowing.
After planning to be an art teacher Victoria’s love of mathematics overruled that desire which led to careers in mathematics teaching and fraud investigation.
Victoria paints in acrylic and the experience of painting each work ”Brings joy to her heart”. She hopes that some of the happiness she derives from painting is conveyed through the canvas to viewers.
In 2018 she was a successful exhibitor at the Sydney Royal Easter Show receiving a Highly Commended Award for her Still Life work.
