George Sayers was born in London. He worked as a commercial artist in England before coming to Australia with his family in 1964.
George worked for an advertising firm for 14 years before studying at Alexander Mackie CAE as a mature age student gaining a B.Ed (Art) degree majoring in printmaking. He had a number of teaching positions in government schools and retired in 1988.
He works in most mediums: oil, water colour, drawing, pastel and etching.
His limited edition etchings both traditional and semi-abstract have won the respect of art collectors with many of the editions sold out.
During his career he has had six solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions.
In 1996 George published ‘Views of Camden and Surrounding Areas’ which contained copies of etchings depicting all the most notable buildings in the area. In 2000 the book was expanded to include several more landmarks in the district.
